Octo-Dog and Shells

I’ve decided that I’m a little bored with cooking. I make the same basic things for dinners and I’m getting tired of it. Dinner should be fun, right? So that’s our new theme for the summer. Fun food! So we bought a couple of fun kid’s cookbooks. This is the first thing we made – an Octo-Dog dinner.

(We seem to be on a hot dog kick =o) after our Hot Dog Cookies.)

We got this idea from the cookbook “Favorite Brand Names: Simple 1-2-3 : Cooking For Kids”.

It was pretty easy and doesn’t it look cute?

Lay one hot dog on it’s side with the end facing you. Starting one inch from the end of the hot do, slice hot dog vertically in half.

Roll the hot dog 1/4 turn. Slice again. Repeat until you have a total of 8 legs.

Place in boiling water and cook until hot. The legs will automattically turn out.
We made shells in cheese sauce (my son LOVES them!) and placed the hotdog on top.

How cute is that?!?!
