Grandmother Paul’s Sour Cream Pound Cake

This has got to be one of my
absolute, most favorite desserts of all time. It’s amazing! Not too sweet and completely satisfying! This is also one of my Dad’s favorites! I made this for him a couple of years ago for Christmas and it quickly went on his wish list for Christmas, his birthday and Father’s Day. And how could it be wrong? It’s from Paula Dean!

I’ll tell you now that it’s definitely not a low fat recipe. Maybe that’s why it tastes so fantastic?!?!

Ingredients:
From Paula Dean

* 1 tsp. vanilla
* 1/2 tsp. baking soda
* 6 large eggs
* 3 cups flour
* 1 cup sour cream
* 3 cups sugar
* 2 sticks butter

Preheat over to 325 degrees.
Cream together butter and sugar. Add sour cream and mix.
Sift baking soda and flour. (Like I ever do this. Not!)
Alternately add flour mixture and eggs (beating well after each addition).
Add vanilla.
Pour into a greased and floured
bundt pan.

Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Cool for about 20 minutes and then remove from pan.

You could drizzle a light frosting of glaze over this if you wanted, but it surely doesn’t need it. It’s great just the way it is!

Enjoy!

  5. Every Paula Dean recipe is fattening! I love a simple pound cake. So funny you made it for your Dad. I always make one for my Dad too because its his favorite.

  6. Now this is what pound cake should look like, Erin! Fabulous! It looks dense and sounds rich, moist and DELICIOUS!

  7. Your cake looks delish! Amazing how men always ask for food as gifts. One year for Christmas, I gave my Great Uncle some cottage cheese bread, so now every time I see him, he asks me to make him some. Last year I didn’t have time to make it, and he let me know he was not happy. You’ll probably make more of a point to make a cake that looks that yummy! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier this week.
