Pokemon Birthday Invitations and Let the Planning Begin

For months now I have been thinking about all the cool Lego things that I could make for my son’s birthday: food ideas, treat bags, etc. I love all the planning that goes into my kid’s birthday parties. Well, I love seeing their faces, I think that’s more like it. We had a completely successful Mad Scientist Party last year, (here and here) in case you missed it. =o)
Then about 3 weeks ago my son said to me “Mom, could I change my birthday party to a Pokemon party?” What the??? But I have ideas in my head! But I couldn’t say that to my adorable son who was looking at me with such pleading in his eyes. So I answered “of course we can!” So since then I’ve been googling like crazy to get some ideas. And oh my! He is going to be so dang excited I can hardly wait.So here’s just a sneak peak… the invitations. They were super easy to make!

In the inside we wrote:
I Chose You…
to help Cody celebrate his 8th birthday.
Come with me and train to be a Pokemon master.
There will be plenty of Pokemon to catch at (blah, blah, blah)
Be sure to call (phone number) to reserve your spot.

My son loves them! =o)

I also added a separate piece of paper asking the parents to email me a picture of their child (a head shot) so I can make one of the things for the goody bags. (Wait ’til you see them!) It also said to bring Pokemon cards for a Pokemon battle.

Now on to the goody bags……

I’m linking up to the linky parties on my sidebar!

  1. Pokemon!!! Oh my gosh, is that popular again? I’m sure you will put together a party the kids will love. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

  2. That brings back such wonderul memories.. I can’t wait to see what you do next!
    Take care,

  3. Same boat here! I was planning a Lego party, then my son switched to Batman. It’s this weekend, so no matter how much he now adores Phineas and Ferb, it is STAYING Batman! LOL Can’t wait to see what else you do!

  4. FUN! I’m in the middle of making poke-themed goodie bags myself! I went the e-vite way for invites this year but I love the idea you have here!

  5. Those are adorable!! I can’t wait to see the rest of the party goods!

  6. Wow.. I don’t know how I would have reacted to a last minute change, but you’ve done a fabulous job! Love the invites & I can’t wait to see what else you’ll come up with 🙂

  7. What a good mom! It is hard to change tracks in mid-stream like that (been there!) but I’m sure he is thrilled!

  8. This brings back great memories for me. My son is 17 and when younger was a huge Pokeman fan. He would have gone crazy for these invitations:)

  9. What a mom! Maybe next year you can use your lego ideas:)

  10. Ok now I’m dying to see your Lego party ideas that you had to tuck away in the “maybe for another party” file. My son wants a Lego party and I’ve been brainstorming for a few weeks. When I started reading your post I got so excited until the part where you switched. Super cute invites. But we would love to hear about your Lego ideas, at least I would 🙂 Love your blog!
