Ho Ho Cake & a Swagbucks Tip

Yowza! right? I saw this cake over on How Sweet It Is some time ago and knew I was going to make it. I mean seriously, doesn’t it look amazing?! Well it is! We made it and ate it in an embarrassingly short amount of time. But I won’t get into that right now =o)

Ingredients:
* Your favorite chocolate cake mix and the ingredients to make it
Middle Layer
* 1 cup butter

* 1/2 cup milk

* 3 cups powdered sugar

* 1 Tbsp. vanilla

* 1/4 tsp. salt
For

Chocolate Frosting
* 1/2 cup butter
* 3/4 cup cocoa powder

* 3 cups powdered sugar

* 1 tsp. vanilla

* 8-10 tsp. water, added one at a time

Make chocolate cake according to the box. Grease and flour a jelly roll pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes; this will depend on the cake you bake but start checking after 15 minutes. Remove cake and let cool for 30 minutes. Mix middle layer. Cream butter and slowly add milk and vanilla. Add powdered sugar and salt, beating until mixture is thick, combined and spreadable. Spread an even layer over chocolate cake. Set in freezer for 15 minutes while you make the chocolate frosting. Remove cake from freezer and frost. Chocolate frosting. Cream butter and vanilla. Add cocoa powder and powdered sugar until combines. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until mixture is smooth – you want the frosting to be spreadable but not thin. Enjoy!!!

  1. You’re right this does look sinfully delicious! Thanks!

  2. Erin, if you are going to turn those in for Amazon gift cards, you should start doing it. They only let you get a certain amount of gift cards a month and only 2 a day. The $5 one is the best deal (I think you can get 5 a month but not totally sure on that). You can store the codes at Swagbuck one awarded or ad them to your amazon account and it will stay there util you are ready to redeem them.

  13. Oh my son would be in heaven! He adores Ho-Ho’s! Love it!

  14. What a great idea. Thank you for finding it and then sharing it with us. I’m wondering how quickly this would melt though in the heat and humidty we are having.

  15. I made this cake tonight and the icing did not turn out at all. It stayed dry the entire time and the butter did not seem to cream with the rest of the dry products. My husband ended up putting it on the stove and cooking it (against my better judgement). It didn’t turn out that way either. Do you think we were missing a step?

  16. Crystal – the white layer or the chocolate layer? I’m not sure what could have happened. Did you use room temp butter?
