Meatloaf and mashed potatoes are comfort food to me. I love them! My kids love them! And I love that my kids love them! But I wanted to kid it up a little. (We eat meatloaf a lot.) So I made my regular meatloaf. It’s nothing uber fancy. I buy the spice packet at the […]
I know. Don’t judge me. You’re thinking “that’s totally gross!” But admit it… you’re next thought is “but totally cool!” Right? Come on, admit it. These cookies are totally gross and totally cool at the same time. That’s why we had to make them. A friend on Facebook posted this link on my wall […]
Tag! I’m it! Yeah! I love to play games. I’m a kid at heart. I’ll admit it. So when Tiffanee over at One Crazy Cookie tagged me, I was thrilled and honored. Thrilled because, like I said, I like to play =o) And honored because I love her blog. She posts the best recipes! What […]
A friend of mine at work bought this amazingly awesome ice cube tray mold for me. I thought it was a giant compliment when she said “I saw this and thought of you.” Seriously! How cool is that! I love it when people see weird but extremely cool things and actually think of me. What […]
Owls and Halloween. Who ever decided these two things go together? Well, if you google it (which, of course, we did) it goes way back. Like, way, way back. According to Haunted Bay, the Romans were one of the first cultures that viewed owls as spooky creatures. The owl symbolized death, doom, or destruction and […]
I think I should just rename my blog “All the ideas I steal from Family Fun”. Seriously. Because whenever we get the magazine we all look through it and say “Oh, we have to make that!” about a million times. This was no exception. We had to make this, of course. I mean really… hot […]
Have you ever just wanted to give someone a finger??? Not the finger… a finger. Ha! I crack myself up sometimes. (I’m hoping that’s not a bad thing….) I found this great finger pan from Wilton last Halloween but never got a chance to use it. So it was calling our name from the […]
I have a confession to make. You know those little recipe books that you always see in the check out stand? They are usually themed – Halloween, Christmas, cookies, crockpot recipes. You know the ones. I am addicted to them. Yep, I said it out loud. I love them. I love looking through them and […]

Are the crystals extremely fragile? How long do they last?
The crystals aren’t fragile at all. That’s the kind of scary part. What does it do to washing machines???!!! But they are hard and pretty durable!
My guess is they last forever unless they get wet. We hung ours in the window and they look so cool!
I love them too!! These are great instructions…
That is so cool. I have heard about these but you make it look so easy and fun. I gotta try this with my kids!!
So pretty!!! I bet they would make cute Christmas ornaments.
Who would have thought, you can do this. They are pretty….to think they come from Borax
What a great project to do with the kids! I would love for you to share it at my “Best of 2011” link party, along with any other posts you are most proud of from this year, at http://www.petalstopicots.com

What another great use for boric acid powder. You can also use it to clean your house, kill ants, and even yeast infections. Keep it around the house just like vinegar or bleach.
//adorable children btw
they remind me of rock candy, remember doing that? Now I can’t wait to visit my sister, my nieces and nephew are going to love doing this one with me! I’m always looking for something to entertain them while I’m their, art projects like this are alway a big hit! Thanks. Louella
I know this sounds like a dumb question but… what do you do with them once they are made? I think it would be cool to do with my students for Valentine’s Day but I am trying to think what to have them do with the hearts once they are finished. Would you make them into a necklace or something?
Not a dumb question at all. I don’t think I would make necklaces because you don’t want the Borax on your skin like that. We hung ours in the window on suction hooks for awhile. They were pretty cool in the sunlight.
