Pumpkin Kiss Pies

I’ve had these bookmarked for a long time.  I’m not sure why it took me so long to make them.  How can you go wrong with pie crust and chocolate?
Pumpkin Kiss Pies
Source: Picky Palate
* refrigerated pie crust
* Kisses (I used Pumpkin Spice)
* egg white
* sugar
 Have you seen these?  Amazing!
Wrap the Kisses.  Flour the counter or mat that you are working on before you unroll the pie crust.  You don’t want it to stick.  Cut out circles in the pie crust.  I used a 3 inch circle cookie cutter.  (I think it was 3 inches.  I’m not a ruler.)
Bring 2 sides up and pinch together.  I put some water around the edges in hopes of keeping the seams together while they were cooking.  (It didn’t really work so I need to figure that part out better.)
Bring the other two edges up to form and thing like this.
Pinch the seams together and then brush them with an egg white wash.  Sprinkle with sugar.
This is what they should look like.
Huh.  That’s not what I was hoping for.  Most of the opened up.  Does anyone know how to prevent this?
Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes.  Picky Palate said to cook them for 20-28 minutes but that was too long for us.
But they tasted oh, so good!  Perfect little pie bites!  I’m guessing they would be amazing filled with milk chocolate Kisses!
See the Kiss in there?
Yep, I loved them!  Ate ’em all =o)

  8. I haven’t tried the Pumpkin Kisses yet, but these sound yummy!

  9. to hold them together, maybe try egg whites? Like mix up the egg white a little, then use it as the sticky substance to hold it together, or sugar water. But I have heard of people using egg white or yolk before.
