Bacon Double Cheese Burger Dip

Who here is exhausted?  Show of hands, please?  With My daughter’s birthday last week and St. Patty’s Day and Easter coming up, oh yeah, and spring break?  I’m pooped.  Maybe if I didn’t try to cram a million things into each day.  But then seriously, how much fun would that be?  I know me.  I’d be bored.  So I guess I’d better stop whining because I don’t see anything changing anytime soon.  Right???
So what do I do?  Eat comfort food, of course.  And what’s better comfort food than a warm, cheesy dip?   Well, for starters, one with bacon and hamburger in it!  That screams comfort to me.  And this dip did not disappoint!  It was amazing!
Bacon Double Cheese Burger Dip
* 1/2 pound ground beef
* 6 strips bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces
* 1 small onion, diced
* 1 clove garlic, chopped
* 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
* 1/2 cup sour cream
* 1/4 cup mayonnaise
* 1/2 cup mozzarella, shredded
* 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
* 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
* 2 Tbsp. ketchup
Cook the ground beef in a pan over medium heat.  When you have about 3 minutes left to cook, add onion.  When ground beef is no longer pink, add garlic and remove from heat.  Drain the grease from the pan and set aside.
Cook the bacon in a pan until crispy, about 6-10 minutes.  Drain and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise and sour cream and beat until smooth.  Add Worcestershire sauce and ketchup and mix until blended.
Stir in mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, hamburger and onion mixture and bacon.
Bake in a 350 degree oven until the top starts to turn light golden brown (about 20-30 minutes.)
I was taking this to work for a get together in the after noon and we don’t have access to an oven.  I made this the night before and scooped it into my medium sized crock pot.  (I doubled the recipe.)   Cook on low for about 3 hours.  I think it worked great.  And I’m guessing from the fact that it disappeared so quickly that others thought it was pretty dang good too.
Serve with crackers or crostini.
I am a huge dip fan so I knew I’d love this when I saw the pictures.  But I can’t even tell you how stinkin’ good this is.  I will definitely be making this again for just about every get together.  It was that good.
Enjoy!

  4. I just stopped by to say you have a fun site. You have some very creative projects, especially the postcard cake sponges. I did not know you could mail something like that or at least not without putting it in a box.
