100 Grand Rice Krispie Treats

My mouth waters just thinking about these.  They were soooooo good!  Who knew adding caramel to the classic rice krispie treat would make it taste so much better?!?!   Well, Jocelyn knew.  She is a dessert guru!  I wish I lived next door to her (and I’d be that really great neighbor who would bring in her garbage cans for her.)  Especially if it meant getting a glimpse (or taste) of her amazing creations!  She hit it out of the ballpark with this one!  (Or should I make a football reference since it’s football time???)

Anyways… I made these to take to the beach when my family all met up at the Coast.  These were gone in no time!  I told you they were delicious!

100 Grand Rice Krispie Treats

* 1 cup Kraft caramels, unwrapped (about 26 caramels)
* 3 Tbsp. butter
* 1 (10 oz.) bag miniature marshmallows
* 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
* 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
* 1 Tbsp. shortening

This is a perfect recipe for little helpers too!  Best part!
In a large saucepan, melt butter and caramel until smooth.  My son said “Mom, you have to take a picture of this.  It looks yummy!”

Add marshmallows and stir until melted.  Again “Mom, check this out.  I could eat this all by itself.”

Add cereal and stir until evenly coated.  Press into a 9×13 pan that has been slightly buttered.  Let cool for about 30 minutes.

In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and shortening in 30 second intervals, stirring after each one.  Spread over the top of the krispies and let cool completely.

Cut into squares and enjoy!

Don’t they look yummy?
