My kids and I love Halloween. I’m not sure what it is about the holiday (yes, we call it a holiday in our house)that we love the most. For me and my son it’s the fun Halloween food that we make. For my daughter (who has a sweet tooth the size of Texas) it’s the Trick or Treating. She loves it and gets so excited starting about the middle of September.
She started talking about her Halloween costume weeks ago. She would started with wanting to be a Princess (which she is most years) but then would change to wanting to be a vampire to about a dozen other things she decided on. She’s so funny. I never know until it’s costume buying time what she’ll decide on.
For lots of people, buying a costume is a giant pain. So many stores now have the worst Halloween costume selections. Stores that used to have aisle after aisle of Halloween decorations and costumes now have one. The others are already filled with Christmas things. Yikes. So where do you go to buy your Halloween costumes?
For the last fifteen or so years I’ve been buying my Halloween costumes online. Fifteen? But my kids are only 7 and 9? I work in a middle school and Halloween at the schools used to be a very fun time. All the staff would dress up and the kids would get a huge kick out of it. I’m sure there are tons of schools that still do this. But we have new administrators in my school and one thing they got rid of is fun Halloween dress up days. It makes me sick. When am I going to dress up like Fiona or the jailer or Raggedy Ann or the other 10 totally cool costumes that I have? Well, sorry kids. I’m dressing up to go trick or treating with you =o)
Anyways, I digressed…

I let my daughter surf through all the pages to find something that she wanted. She looked for about 45 minutes, showing me adorable costumes. I could tell she was struggling with what to pick out when I suddenly heard a 7 year old girl shriek and she announced “I found it. This is what I totally want.” I looked and saw that she was pointing to the CeCe Costume. At first I was a little disappointed that this is the costume that she wanted. I tried to tell her that most people won’t know who CeCe is from the Disney Show Shake It Up. Guess what her answer to me was. “If they’re cool they will.” Yep, that’s my daughter. And I decided that she can be whatever she wants to be for Halloween. If I wanted to dress someone in a costume it could be me.
When the costume came it was so much fun to see the look on my daughter’s face. She was so excited! Just look at her.
She immediately put it on and came out to pose for pictures.
The Disney Shake It Up! Season 2 Cece Child Costume came with a colorful tunic with attached jacket and a pair of shiny blue leggings. She loved it!
I’m thinking if we curl her hair she might be able to pull it off.
My daughter loved the costume. She put it on and immediately started breaking out into song and dance and acted like CeCe on the show (which she adores). The leggings are adorable and she loves them. The tunic was a little bit snug so I’m sad we didn’t get the bigger size, But as long as she doesn’t flex any muscles, she won’t pop out of the back.
The funniest part? The next day I asked her to get ready for school. She came downstairs in the shiny leggings and a t-shirt (that totally didn’t match) and socks that were mid calf and her tennis shoes on. I almost started busting out laughing. I asked her what was up and she said “I’m ready for school, Mom.” Holy heck, that was her school outfit today. Well, she was colorful and shiny and looked like a rainbow that exploded. But the smile on her face was priceless. She thought she looked amazing. And who am I to pop that bubble. When we were driving to school she said, “see Mom, this is a great costume. I can wear these pants anytime I want.” I couldn’t help it, I busted out laughing. She was so darn cute.
