My son wanted a Nerf birthday party. Do you know how hard it is to find Nerf party things out there??? It’s darn near impossible. Tiffanee over at One Crazy Cookie made our Nerf Birthday Party Invitations which were a giant hit! I don’t know how she does it but she is a computer genius!
Nerf food? Yah, that was quite the chore. Because really, food made to look like Nerf darts just looks inappropriate for a 10 year old’s birthday party. A bridal shower maybe. But not for a 10 year old. So it was slim pickins in the food category.
Then it dawned on me… what if I dip Twinkies in chocolate? Would that work? Our Twinkie Mummies were such a huge hit at Halloween I figured I’d give it a try. What do you think? Do they look like Nerf Darts?
They were easy to make. We just melted some Wilton Candy Melts in orange and yellow. Dip your Twinkies (I think they’re called something else now that Hostess went belly up. But they will always be Twinkies to me.) Let harden on a piece of waxed paper. I had a black cookie icing that I used for the ends. I think Wilton makes a black Candy Melt but I couldn’t find it anywhere.
The kids loved them! They were delicious (duh, chocolate covered Twinkie) and looked pretty cool (I think).
The party was a hit (whew!) I wasn’t so sure I could pull this one off. Stay tuned for more Nerf Birthday Party fun!
